MOVIE REVIEW: Nimbe

Image
Nimbe the movie chronicles the life of Nimbe, a bright student from a troubled household and his struggles with drug abuse, crime and bullying. The movie written by Ronke Gbede, directed by Tope Alake and starring Toyin Abraham, Odunlade Adekola, Kelechi Udegbe and Chimezie Imo as the titular character of Nimbe. The film does not shy away from delving into a lot of deep and pertinent themes of drug use, rape, parental affection in ways that are not only relatable but also avoids being preachy. Overall the acting did not dissapoint and as usual Odunlade Adekola's acting was top-notch, Toyin Abraham brought exceptional acting to table with an accent that was quite believable and Kelechi Udegbe gave life to the role of Ak with so much subtlety .  However, the shining star was Chimezie Imo whose depth as an actor was a spectacle to behold in this movie, his interpretation of Nimbe was phenomenal, if you thought he did well as Shina in Shuga come watch him soar in this one.

POETRY: In Hiding

For those who go through dark days they can't share or explain, my heart is with you. They ask ''how are you?" you smile your heart beats loudly like the talking drum your hands shakes a little because how do you say ''I'm dying slowly  my days are filled with emptiness, sadness and months with lows I struggle to breathe sometimes my chest tightens too and i think it might never end" How do you explain that your life is whirring past and you are barely hanging on that you feel emotions you can't explain and thoughts you shouldn't have that your mind is numb and your heart distant  Like you are walking alone in the forest at night afraid, heart palpitating no light in sight your voice echoing back Uneasy because monsters lurk That running leads to dead ends so you stay lost and wandering in this place of nowhere But instead you bolt your feelings in Smile and say  i'm fine and

POETRY: The Tale of Trust

Image
I have written of tales  Of sadness and despair Of pain and suffering Of light and love and joy And dancing And lustful passion but never Have I written of what it’s like To be broken by the ones you trust and love And who you’d hope would fight for you Whose arms you thought would give warmth and solace  And would shield from hurt The ones they say stick closer than brothers Nobody ever speaks of the shattering of heart, mind and soul And every shard of being, minced When they stick that spear in  And grace your heart with pepper The levels of pain inexplicable As gone is both friend and trust You open, vulnerable, splayed like A lab rat for all to infer Because you gave your heart to that one person

RANTINGS: Love and Acceptance

First of all Happy New year!! I have wanted to post this for a while but I just thought to wait till the new year and give a positive message to kick off the year. Learning to love comes from within, love in relationships or friendship. When you understand that loving others comes from loving yourself, acknowledging your whole, even the parts you don’t like or want people to see. When you are able to admit that everyone has shortcomings and stop looking at yourself through other people's mirror you’ll breathe easy, as someone said a lot of times we look at ourselves the way we think people see us and not as we see us. Trying to put yourself up to someone’s mirror will only give heartache. Learning to love is one of the most difficult things to do, I mean how can I love my little butt when the world says big jiggly butts are better but love is knowing that the little butt serves it’ s purpose of sitting and you define what pretty or sexy means to you. A smart man once s
